AUTOMATIC FIRE EXTINGUISHER

DESIGN

The "FIRE CHIEF" Automatic Extinguisher contains dry Powder. The Unit is pressurized by Nitrogen and a pressure gauge is fitted to the extinguisher for a quick check of inside pressure. Detection is by means of a sprinkler bulb, fitted to the bottom.

WORKING MECHANISM

When the temperature reaches 68°F ( or 155°C), the sprinkler bulb bursts, allowing the contents to come out under pressure and cover the fire.

COVERAGE

For Local(Area) protection, 1 Kg size extinguisher of powder will be respectively cover a floor area of 0.3 sq. meter (3.25 sq. Ft.)

SIZE AVAILABLE

Dry Powder:2,4,6,10 and 12 Kg.

For cars, buses and trucks, there is a special 1 kg size.

INSTALLATION

The extinguisher is usually mounted with its sensing head between 1-3 meters above the fire risk but not less than 2 meters above the risk if any open flammable liquid tank is being protected, in order to avoid burning fuel being splashed out of the tank.

MOUNTING

There are three methods of mounting in a confined space: (1) Chain suspension for easy and flexibility of fixing at suitable height above the fire risk. (2) fixed roof mounted bracket and (3) wall mounting bracket. Special brackets are also available for mounting units in the engine areas of marine crafts, Railway engines, armored tanks, cars, buses etc.

SPECIAL ATTACHMENTS (OPTIONAL)

The unit can be fitted with a pressure switch. When the extinguisher discharges, the pressure immediately falls and the pressure switch comes into operation. This can be used to sound an alarm, cut off electricity fans or fuel supplies, close door and ventilators and operate emergency lighting.

TEMPERATURE RATING

Standard sensing temperature for tropical countries is 69° C, other temperatures 57° C, 79 °C, 93 °C, 110 °C up to 260 °C. It is, however, advised to select a sensing temperature which is 60 °C (155 °F) above the highest ambient temperature experienced.
